Acne Statistics
Have you ever wondered if you were all alone in your struggle with acne? We can assure you that you are not alone, just take a look at the acne statistics.
- In most people, acne will last for about three to four years and in 15% of the cases, acne can continue for 8-12 years.
- In a smaller percentage (5%), acne will last beyond age 25 and can continue up to age 40.
- In women particularly, acne may not occur until age 25.
- In 70% of the cases, women will notice an acne flare-up prior to their menstrual cycle, perhaps due to an increase of Androgens, steroid hormones responsible for the development and maintenance of male physical characteristics.
- The more severe cases of acne tend to occur most often in men, because they produce more of the male hormones that stimulate acne formation.
- Women with a lot of body or facial hair, and those who have irregular periods, may be at an increased risk of acne. These women may want to have their hormone levels evaluated by a physician.
- An estimated 80 percent of all people between the ages of 11 and 30 have acne outbreaks at some point.
- More than 40 percent of all teens develop cases of acne severe enough to warrant medical treatment.

These are interesting but I would like to see more statistics. Can you post more statistics?
Hi Kevin,
We will put that on the list of things to research. If you did not choose to be notified of comments please do so and you will be notified when we add the additional acne statistics. There are some other acne facts you may or may not have seen.
Hi Joe,
We will have someone look for those statistics and post them on the site. Make sure you get on the newsletter and we will send out the addition of that post to our subscribers.
